The Imperfect Traces Left by Human Hands

This essay presented an unconventional point of view on the “digital age.” Most people appreciate the improvements to technology, but the author of this essay points out that digital creations don’t have the same uniqueness as analog creations. I have found digital to be helpful because it gives my creations extra neatness and makes them more organized, accessible, and easier to revise. However, this essay has given me a new outlook on analog, and a new appreciation for the imperfections that make analog creations unique.

My Writing Experience

In the past writing has often been challenging and frustrating for me. While I have appreciated writing as a way to organize my thoughts, I have struggled with it at times because it requires a more creative approach then math or science. It has been difficult for me to understand writing as an art, so I have the tendency to look for a more straightforward approach to be successful as a writer.

Last year, I took AP English, which was an especially frustrating class for me. I didn’t enjoy the books we read and I often received two or three out of ten on in-class essays.  This gave me a very negative outlook on writing, but since then I have gradually learned to appreciate certain forms of writing again. The importance of writing has become especially evident to me over the past months as I have completed college essays and writing sections on standardized tests that will have a great impact on my future years of college. Writing is an important form of art and communication that is needed in many aspects of life. I think students would benefit greatly if teachers gave more feedback on writing assignments, and suggested specific things students could do to improve their writing.
